RAPISTS

Labour is letting convicted rapists, paedophiles and grooming gang members out of prison early despite promising victims they wouldn't.

My name is Fiona Goddard.

I am asking you to help me speak up for people who want justice for the victims of the horrendous crimes committed by child rape gangs — often referred to as the grooming gangs scandal.

This is personal to me as I am one of those victims.

Although it took far too long I was able to see my perpetrators convicted in a court. They were sent to prison for what they did to me.

But I have now received a letter telling me that they may now be allowed to leave prison years earlier than they were due to.

On receiving that letter, I felt a mixture of emotions but particularly anxiety, confusion and betrayal.

How could anyone decide that the people who trafficked, raped and abused me were going to be released early? Potentially serving only a third of their sentence.

This was just another slap in the face and it doesn't feel like justice.

When I sat in the court and heard sentences between 16 and 20 years handed out, I thought I would have the opportunity to rebuild my life in peace while they served lengthy sentences. Now that may not be the case.

And I'm not alone. If I received this letter, I know many other rape victims also received this. Which begs the question, how many rapists, paedophiles and child groomers could be let back onto our streets in the following months?

Survivors like myself have fought for years to be heard. Together, we can keep fighting for justice, accountability and protection for those whose lives have been devastated by these horrific crimes.

Yours sincerely,
