Fund the urgent upgrade of M1 Junction 13

We call on the Labour Government to fully fund and deliver the urgent upgrade of M1 Junction 13 to prevent our local roads from being overwhelmed by traffic and support economic growth. 

With the new Universal United Kingdom Resort planned for Bedfordshire, the area is expected to see millions of additional visitors using Junction 13, alongside major new jobs, investment and housing growth. 

And local residents need a firm commitment that Junction 13 will be upgraded.

Junction 13 is already a key route for communities across Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes and the wider region. Without proper investment, increased congestion will hit local
families, commuters, businesses and emergency services.

Residents should not be left to pay the price for national infrastructure pressures. 

We therefore urge the Labour Government to:

• Commit the funding needed to upgrade M1 Junction 13.
• Publish a clear timetable for the works.
• Work with National Highways, local councils and businesses to minimise disruption.
• Ensure the upgrade is delivered before the Universal resort opens.

Bedfordshire deserves the jobs and opportunities this major investment can bring, but growth must come with the infrastructure to match.
