Labour have announced a national inquiry into the grooming gang scandal. But the fight isn't over:

This inquiry can't be another talking shop. It must:

  • Criminal investigations must run in parallel to the inquiry and must look at the whole system.
  • Foreign perpetrators must be deported immediately.
  • The inquiry must be fully independent with statutory powers covering local councils who can’t be trusted to investigate themselves.
  • The inquiry must examine the role of ethnicity and religion in the cover up.
  • Labour must publish a full terms of reference, and ensure the report comes no later than June 2028.
